Zdravko Ponos( BETAPHOTO/MILAN OBRADOVIC/MO)
A retired general, Zdravko Ponos, nominated to run for Serbian presidency by the United Serbia, the leading opposition coalition, has been the alliance’s most prominent figure in the campaign ahead of April’s polls in Serbia. Ponos, formally still a member of Vuk Jeremic’s People’s Party, is almost certain to come second in the Serbian presidential race, right behind the current head of state, Aleksandar Vucic. The chances of the two competing in a second round are slim.
