Darko Saric (BETAPHOTO/BRANISLAV BOZIC/MO)
Last week’s surprising arrest of controversial businessman Darko Saric, who has been under house arrest since December, has once again highlighted the question of the efficacy of enforcing laws in Serbia and the operation of judicial institutions. Saric was arrested in an international operation, coordinated by Europol and Eurojust, for his suspected role in organizing a criminal group that operated in Europe and South America and committing a string of crimes, including murders and drug trafficking.
