Maja Gojkovic, a lawyer who during her 34 years in politics switched from one party to another more than once, was elected last week as the head of the Province of Vojvodina government - the first woman to hold that position. Gojkovic, who joined the Serbian Progressive Party in 2012, has been Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s trusted person since, as he has been appointing her to important posts for the past 10 years. However, Gojkovic will not have the final say in Vojvodina, where the center of decision-making has for long been outside the provincial government.
