The president of the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, requested on March 18 that Premier Albin Kurti abolishes the import tariffs on products from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina by the end of the week, and revokes the decision on the dismissal of Interior Minister Agim Veliu.

Mustafa assessed that Veliu's dismissal was in contradiction with the coalition agreement, that such moves by the premier were damaging and unacceptable and could lead to the breaking up of the ruling coalition.

He assessed that the dismissal of Veliu represented a violation of the coalition agreement.

Kurti decided on March 18 to dismiss Agim Veliu from the post of minister of the interior and public administration, because of his statements that contradicted the premier's regarding the introduction of the state of emergency, and statements by which, as the premier said, he had caused panic.

In the explanation of the decision, Kurti said that Veliu, by stating that "the number of infected is growing every minute," caused panic among the people and, in his public addresses, "demonstrated a lack of leadership and openly belittled the work of the government which he is a member of."
