Sem Fabrizi, head of the European Union Delegation to Serbia, told Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic over the phone on April 13 that the European Commission had announced a EUR78-million package of aid to Serbia to support the economy during the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to a press release issued by the Serbian government, Fabrizi said on the call that Serbia and the EU needed "to work together on supporting a speedy recovery of small and medium enterprises in particular," as their business was suffering in the pandemic.
Fabrizi was also quoted by the Serbian cabinet as saying that the EU had earmarked EUR15 million "for the urgent needs of the health care system, and especially for air transport of medical equipment to Serbia," which has included funding flights bringing medical aid.
The PM thanked Fabrizi for a donation of medical equipment from the EU, which included special protective masks, respirators, containers for triage and for initial measures of support in protecting vulnerable categories like the elderly, single mothers and the Roma community.
