Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on May 18, regarding recent events in Montenegro, that the authorities in Podgorica ought to talk with the local Serbs, adding that Serbia "can react while respecting the sovereignty of Montenegro."
"It is very important for Serbia to preserve the rights and freedoms of the Serbian people in Montenegro," she said during a tour of the Science and Technology Park in Belgrade.
The prime minister also said that, however, "Montenegrin officials have not been too open for discussing these topics so far," while Serbia "is always there to talk, if the other side is ready for that, too," read a press release on the government's official website.
She underscored that there could be no progress without regional stability and urged the Montenegrin authorities to engage in "a normal and constructive dialogue with the Serbs, rather than with Belgrade."
