Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin stated on May 20 that Serbia was still waiting for NATO to apologize for the 1999 bombing, and that the apology might guarantee that such a thing would never happen again to anyone.
After the laying of wreaths at the memorial in front of the "Dragisa Misovic" Clinical Center, dedicated to members of the Guards Brigade and patients who were killed in the bombing, Vulin stated that Serbia had chosen "to recollect, remember and remind, not in hoping that the powerful would be ashamed of their action, but to not let them ever forget it," the Defense Ministry has stated.
"21 years have passed and we have not heard an apology. These people cannot be brought back, but a human 'sorry' might have helped in this never happening again. One human 'sorry' could help in what happened to us not happening to others," Vulin stated.
