Carlo Lo Cascio

Italian Ambassador in Belgrade Carlo Lo Cascio thanked on June 2 Serbia and President Aleksandar Vucic for his generous donation of medical equipment to Italy and stressed that in a crisis of this scale it was in the interest of all to secure guarantees for the future of all of Europe which was why Italy believed in the Western Balkan's integration with the EU and strongly supported Serbia's European path.

"Even in the most difficult of times during the emergency situation we did not forget the EU, our constant support. For this reason we hoped for financial support that mirrors the challenges that we face and which all European countries are facing," Lo Cascio said in a message posted on the embassy's website on Italian Republic Day.

He said that Italy was marking the holiday in Belgrade without a public celebration this year, out of respect for the victims of the coronavirus epidemic in Italy and Serbia by partaking in the grief of their families.  He added that after great suffering there was a wish to move forward and start again in Italy.
