Epidemiologist Predrag Kon on June 9 said that it would take at least two weeks for Serbia to report no coronavirus case in a day.

According to him, the easing of countermeasures did not come early, but timely. “The lifting of the state of emergency has been interpreted as the end of the epidemic. It is very likely that the epidemic will not end soon, that is, to have 28 days free of new Covid-19 cases. We will have to wait at least another two weeks, if not longer,” Kon specified.

Commenting on a mild increase in the number of coronavirus cases, Kon said that new hotspots had been registered in Novi Pazar and Tutin.

The director of the Institute of Public Health Milan Jovanovic Batut, Verica Jovanovic, on June 9 said that the coronavirus situation in Serbia was stable, noting that a student dormitory and a kindergarten in Belgrade which had reported Covid-19 infections were not new hotspots, but individual cases that had been strictly monitored.
