If U.S. President Donald Trump loses the election in November the U.S. stance on Kosovo will change, a U.S. expert on the Balkans Daniel Serwer said on June 21.

In an interview with the Kosovo online portal, the political analyst said that as a new president, Democrat Joseph Biden would be "a devoted opponent to any border change so as to accommodate ethnic differences in the Balkans and elsewhere."

"Biden would be a far stronger advocate of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo than Trump has been. He would also strongly support Serbia's accession to the EU, as well as close cooperation between the U.S. and the EU in the Balkans and beyond," Serwer explained.

In a comment on the upcoming meeting in Washington between Pristina and Belgrade representatives, he said he didn't trust reports that only economic issues would be discussed at the White House.
