Kosovo Premier Avdullah Hoti on June 29 warned about the possibility of restoring lockdown in places with a large number of coronavirus cases.
After a meeting of the special committee for epidemic prevention, Hoti said that the reintroduction of lockdown in places with the most cases was being discussed.
"The police will be given all the required authority. We have engaged all the resources," said Hoti and added that the situation could not be allowed to slip out of control.
"We have 49 deaths. The Clinic for Infectious Diseases is overcrowded, there is no more room for the sick. Places are being set up at other clinics. The measures are simple, masks, distancing and hand washing. We are obliged to adhere to them," Hoti stressed.
So far, 2,677 people have been infected with the coronavirus in Kosovo, of whom 1,425 have recovered while 1,203 cases are currently active.
