Vote in Serbia to Be Repeated on 234 Polling Stations on July 1

Due to irregularities, Serbia's parliamentary and local vote will be repeated on July 1 on 234 polling stations, where 203,012 people will have the right to cast their ballots.

The Serbian Electoral Commission had annulled the results on these voting stations after determining „logical and computation errors“ in the work of their election boards.

The CRTA observers will not monitor the vote due to the worsening of the epidemiological situation in Serbia as, according to an announcement, they did not receive an answer from the relevant bodies to their inquiries whether, in view of the health situation, the conditions for organizing the repeat vote do exist.

Another monitoring organization, CeSID, also quoted the worsening of the epidemiological situation as the reason for the absence of its representatives from the polling stations on July 1, also pointing out the fact that monitoring missions have no right to obtaining additional accreditation for the purpose.

The Serbian Electoral Commission has yet to announce the final results of the June 21 general vote, while according to preliminary results based on the 97.23 percent of processed material the ticket Aleksandar Vucic-For Our Children won 60,68 percent of the vote, i.e. 1,917,421 votes and 189 seats in the 250-seat Serbian Parliament.

The ticket Ivica Dacic-Socialist Party of Serbia-United Serbia-Dragan Markovic Palma won 10.35 percent of the vote, i.e. 327,130 votes and 32 seats, and Aleksandar Sapic's SPAS ticket won 3.89 percent of the vote, i.e. 121,867 votes and 12 seats.

Three tickets are close to the three-percent threshold for representation in Parliament: For the Kingdom of Serbia-Zika Gojkovic, which according to preliminary results won 2.63 percent of the vote, The Sovereignists – 2.32 percent, Metla (Broom) 2.25 percent, and Dr Vojislav Seselj-Serbian Radical Party – 2.07 percent of the vote.
