The Bosnia and Herzegovina Prosecutor's Office on July 20 issued an order for securing a site in Rostovo, near Bugojno, for the exhumation of mortal remains of persons presumed to be Croat victims from the previous war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"Having received information on the existence of mortal remains at the Rostovo site, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Prosecutor's Office requested that all construction works be halted until the process of exhumation and search for mortal remains was completed," the Prosecutor's Office said in a press release.
The Office adds that the prosecutor who was contacted by representatives of the Missing Persons Institute and the Central Bosnia Canton police, who notified them of the mortal remains discovered, ordered that the site be secured, surrounded by police tape and put under police surveillance.
There is information that the mortal remains of Croats from the Bugojno area, for whom a search has been going on for more than two decades, are buried at the site, on private property.
