Following a June 21 parliamentary vote in Serbia, the country's new parliament will be inaugurated on Aug. 3, one day short of a 30-day deadline for verifying the terms of parliament's new lawmakers.
The Serbian speaker, Maja Gojkovic, scheduled the inaugural session for Aug. 3.
According to the agenda, the assembly will confirm the terms of parliament's new MPs, elect a new speaker and deputy speaker, a new secretary-general and members of working bodies.
The MPs will take the following oath: "I swear that I shall carry out the duties of a Member of Parliament with devotion, honesty and conscience and obey the Constitution, defend human and minority rights and civil liberties, while serving the citizens of Serbia, truth and justice, to the best of my knowledge and ability."
