Goran Belojevic, full professor at the Belgrade Faculty of Medicine, has said that Serbia has registered 128,000 Covid-19 infections and 5,000 deaths.

In an editorial published in the Aug. 4 issue of Belgrade daily Danas, Belojevic said that in order to reestablish a firm connection between the Crisis Headquarters and the citizens it was necessary to correct the statistics as otherwise, epidemiology and the entire preventive medicine in Serbia, which is currently “incorrect,” will remain stained.

Belojevic suggests that all cemetery maintenance firms in Serbia should be requested to provide reports on the number of funerals in tin coffins since March until today, as well as the number of cremations with signs “infectious disease.”

“According to my estimation, using simple formulas, it will come to a figure of around 5,000 deaths, or eight times the official figure,” Belojevic said. He added that the relevant bodies should report new, correct figures to the World Health Organization and keep correct coronavirus statistics without manipulations.
