Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic talked on Aug. 12 about the advancement of cooperation between Serbia’s and Azerbaijan’s police with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Vilayat Eyvazov.
A Serbian Interior Ministry’s press release says that during the talks in Baku Stefanovic and Eyvazov agreed on strengthening cooperation between the two ministries through the exchange of experience in the area of forensics and joint trainings of special units, as well as through cooperation of the two countries’ police academies.
Stefanovic underlined the importance of cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of cyber crime, but also the importance of exchanging information in the fight against terrorism.
Eyvazov said that Azerbaijan and Serbia are strategic partners, in which good relations between the two countries’ presidents, Ilham Aliyev and Aleksandar Vucic, respectively, play an important role, “which was shown by their visits to Serbia and Azerbazjan,” the press release added.
Diplomatic relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan were shaken on July 19, when the Haqqin.az portal, considered close to the Azerbaijan authorities, reported that Serbian grenade launchers and the ammunition for them were delivered to Armenia via Georgia and used in deadly clashes at the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan on July 12.
In a recent telephone conversation with his counterpart Aliyev and speaking about Serbia’s arms and military equipment exports to the region of the Caucasus, Vucic pointed out that Serbia will not interfere in disputes Azerbaijan has with other countries.
