Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said on Aug. 13 that Serbia is both for a compromise on Kosovo and a dialogue, but that “it will not agree to in advance prepared solutions being imposed.”
“Pristina, however, not only doesn’t want a compromise, but they lie, their whole politics is founded on lies. They sign something and then they do not want to deliver, as was the case with the Brussels agreement and the Association of Serb Municipalities,” Dacic said for Prva TV.
Their actions, according to Dacic, makes one question the whole purpose of a dialogue in which “you don’t know if you’ve agreed on something or not.” He added that Pristina believes that Serbia is as weak as it once was, and that “it will have to cave in under pressure and blackmail.”
When asked if Serbia will continue to campaign for the revocation of recognition of Kosovo’s independence, he said that Serbian authorities have agreed to do what U.S. President’s Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina Talks Richard Grenell had asked of them, so that “it won’t turn out that” Serbia is hindering the dialogue.
“We’ve agreed to a moratorium of a kind, but we’re also keeping an eye on Pristina,” the minister said.
In the same statement, Dacic, who is the leader of the Socialist Party the Serbia, also said that, for the sake of political and state unity of the country, both he and his party are ready to continue their collaboration with President Aleksandar Vucic and the Serbia Progressive Party, adding that, in the end, the final decision is up to the president and his party.
