A decision to transform the Alliance for Serbia into the United Opposition of Serbia will only change its political activity insofar as to allow each party included in the bloc to focus its platform and ideology on its voters, while the ultimate goals remain the same - the rule of law, free media and free and fair elections, the Democratic Party leader, Zoran Lutovac, said on Aug. 17.
Lutovac said that the Alliance "has fully exposed the authoritarian character of the authorities in Serbia," making the opposition "an indispensable actor" in talks with international representatives.
"Now the bar has been lifted. Serbian citizens are largely dissatisfied with the situation in Serbia, and we expect the transformation of our activity to attract them," Lutovac said at a press conference in Belgrade.
The Democrat leader said that the parties within the United Opposition of Serbia were focused on their own voters, which, as he put it, would strengthen the opposition as a whole.
