The survival of the United Opposition of Serbia (UOS) has not been called into question, because it is rallied around the shared idea of fighting for conditions for holding fair and free elections as soon as possible, party deputy president Miroslav Aleksic said on Aug. 31.
Commenting on a statement by Party of Freedom and Justice leader Dragan Djilas that continued cooperation in the UOS was possible only after "several matters have been discussed" with the People's Party at joint meetings, Aleksic said that he did not know why "anything would need to be cleared up" with the party.
He added that the People's Party would not have joined the UOS had it intended to leave the group immediately, and that since its founding it had advocated united action of all opposition parties in the struggle against Aleksandar Vucic's regime, "which is destroying Serbia and its future."
