People’s Party leader Vuk Jeremic has said that “things related to the issue of Kosovo and Metohija” will change in the international community once Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic fails to keep what  he promised when assuming power.

In an interview with Nis daily Juzne Vesti, Jeremic said that “Vucic will most likely not have the courage to sign a document which would de facto recognize Kosovo’s independence and under which, Kosovo would become a member of the U.S.,” adding that after that, he “will finally be able to talk with the international community in a different manner,” according to a release from the party on Sept. 1.

Jeremic stressed that instead of signing an agreement under which Serbia would recognize Kosovo as an independent state, it was necessary to have an engagement with the international community and Kosovo Albanians toward a full normalization of living conditions in Kosovo and Metohija, and the entire region.

“We will tell them that they have not received a signature of Vucic for Belgrade’s recognition of Kosovo’s independence and will not get it from anyone, but that the current opposition, unlike Vucic, offers a true normalization and stabilization of the conditions in the Balkans, not only in relations between Serbs and Albanians, but also with the Bosniaks and all other neighbors,” Jeremic said.
