U.S. President Donald Trump is slated to meet with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Premier Avdullah Hoti at the Oval Office on Sept. 4, attend a signing ceremony and take part in a trilateral sit-down, the White House said in a press release quoted by the voice of America.

After the meeting in the White House, Vucic and Hoti are to have individual meetings with U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo at the State Department.

The White House statement did not specify what would be signed, whether it would be an agreement and what such an agreement might contain.

After the first round of talks, Vucic said he hoped that the delegations could reach agreement and ruled out any possibility of Serbia recognizing Kosovo being part of the deal.

Vucic said the initial text of an informal document had included a paragraph on mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia, but that it was stricken from later versions after a "strong reaction" by the Serbian delegation, which deemed it had no place in an agreement on economic normalization.

Hoti said strides had been made toward a final agreement between Serbia and Kosovo. Robert O'Brien, the U.S. president's national security advisor, has said that the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia have made true progress in negotiations at the White House.
