U.S. President Donald Trump has written a letter to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in which he commended the latter’s courage to begin normalizing economic relations with Kosovo, Belgrade media reported in the evening on Oct. 7.
“Dear Mr. President, Thank you for the gold coin and for joining me at the White House as we worked toward lasting peace and prosperity in the Balkans. I am heartened by your tremendous courage in beginning to normalize economic relations with Kosovo,” Trump wrote.
In the letter sent on Sept. 22, Trump added that he is “looking forward to continuing to create a safer, stronger, and more prosperous region,” and wished all the best to Vucic and “the great people of Serbia.”
On Sept. 4, at the White House, Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti agreed to normalize economic relations between Serbia and Kosovo. With Trump as witness, they signed each their own copies of the agreement, which differ only in the final of the 16 clauses.
