The resolution of relations between Belgrade and Pristina and the necessary "far-reaching decision" of Belgrade, which would open the way for Serbia's EU membership and which would envisage consenting to a form of independence of Kosovo, will be the result of a complex and not at all easy process in the negotiations through the Dialogue.

Diplomatic sources stated this to BETA in Brussels on Oct. 15, explaining that this clearly had to be "an acceptable solution for Belgrade," about which the mediators and key factors in the EU would have to "convince Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic with solid arguments."

For the EU, the "far-reaching decision" of Belgrade will certainly be the "comprehensive final solution" of relations with Pristina, which may view that even as recognition, but it is crucially important that the two sides accept it.

To the question of BETA about what the EU would offer to President Vucic, who is requesting that Brussels discloses what Serbia would get in return and when it could expect the Union's doors to open, the European sources replied that Belgrade would undoubtedly get the membership, but also that Serbia had to fulfill all the conditions, from the rule of law to the necessary level of economic power.
