Serbian Prime Minister-Designate Ana Brnabic said on Oct. 21 that the point of considering the composition of the new cabinet is not to have the majority of posts “reserved” for the ruling Serbian Progressive Party.

“We do not thing along the lines of what we will preserve for the Serbian Progressive Party and then see how to trick our coalition partners. What we do think about is what we can do for Serbia’s citizens and about [our] clear priorities,” Brnabic said for Happy TV.

She told the RTS public service in the evening on Oct. 20 that if the Serbian Progressive Party fails to “pull it off” in 2021, someone else will have a chance to take over and that the government, despite its limited term, will be fully authorized to pass important decisions.

“The fight against the mafia is one of the three biggest challenges for the new government, along with the health situation and the dialogue with Pristina,” the prime minister said and added that she would not personally initiate a dialogue between the authorities and the opposition because her job, as she put it, “is to lead the government.”

She also said that she will not speak about appointments before Oct. 25 and a new session of the Progressive party’s Presidency, and that her formal speech and the vote on the new cabinet will be over by Oct. 28.
