One person died from consequences of the coronavirus infection in Serbia in the past 24 hours, said a report posted on the covid19.rs website on Oct. 26.

The number of newly confirmed cases of infection is 341. The number of people being treated for COVID-19 in hospitals is 768, of whom 39 are on ventilators. Since the start of the coronavirus epidemic in Serbia 793 people have died, while the total number of registered cases is 39,827.

Candidate for health minister Zlatibor Loncar said on Oct. 26 that Belgrade's COVID-19 hospitals were "over 60-70 percent" full, while "14-15 patients" had already been placed in the temporary hospital in the Belgrade Arena.

Noting after a meeting with the directors of COVID-19 hospitals in Serbia that the number of exams and hospitalizations due to the coronavirus has increased, Loncar said the epidemiological situation in the country was "not good."
