Serbian Ambassador to Montenegro Vladimir Bozovic has been declared a persona non grata and asked to leave Montenegro, the Montenegrin Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Nov. 28.

The statement said that Bozovic had interfered in Montenegrin internal affairs for a prolonged period of time and issued statements "that are at odds with the customary and acceptable standards of diplomacy," and that, after multiple warnings about his behavior, he had once again demeaned Montenegro.

Pro-Serbian parties in Montenegro condemned the decision to expel Bozovic, while the Democratic Party of Socialists said in a press release that the decision was expected in view of the repeated warnings given to Bozovic.

Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral administrator Joanikije said that the outgoing regime in Montenegro had acted in bad faith on multiple levels in removing Bozovic - by intending to raise tensions and deepen divisions in Montenegrin society and provoke a reciprocal response from Serbia so that media in the region could spread poison and hate among brothers.
