President Aleksandar Vucic on Jan. 19 said that Serbia would receive another batch of 250,000 doses of Russia’s Sputnik V shots, adding that the procurement of AstraZeneca jabs was expected through Poland shortly.

Presiding over a meeting of top state officials and the Vaccination Team, Vucic said that the rollout of Chinese vaccine, which he said was safe for all age groups, would start on Jan. 19.

Speaking at the same meeting, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that at the moment, 1,054,950 doses of Covid-19 shots had been procured, while the delivery of a total of six million vaccines had been agreed, placing Serbia, she said, among the top countries in Europe.

Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin said that the ministry staff was aware of the need for vaccination, noting that 9,366 employees had applied for shots so far.

Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said that a large number of army personnel had been applying for vaccination, adding that the army staff was fully ready to receive shots.
