Serbia is about to complete organizational and administrative preparations for a shift to the European Union's new enlargement methodology, working on reforms in all the clusters of negotiating chapters, as provided by the new scheme, the Serbian minister in charge of the country's EU accession, Jadranka Joksimovic, said on Feb. 8.
Joksimovic said for Euractiv Serbia and BETA that she believed the new and innovative system of accession talks would suit Serbia and accelerate the process, adding that the details of the new methodology should be unveiled by the beginning of March.
After that an EU-Serbia intergovernmental conference should take place by the end of June, under Portugal's presidency of the Council of the EU, to fine-tune the implementation of the new system, the minister explai
"It is important to note that Serbia is not sitting and waiting for the European Commission to reveal the plan, but has engaged in dynamic communication with EU member states instead, working in a partnership with the Commission and offering suggestions as to the implementation of the new cluster methodology," Minister Joksimovic said, adding that the new model required new adjustments not only within her ministry, but to the negotiating structure as well.
