Sixteen more people died from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, while 3,469 new cases were registered, the Ministry of Health stated on March 1.
Out of the 3,977 hospitalized patients, 164 are on ventilators. Since the outbreak of the epidemic in Serbia 462,728 people have been infected, of whom 4,459 died.
The medical part of the government's Crisis Headquarters for suppressing the coronavirus epidemic advocates a curfew, i.e. "an absolute lockdown," Vojvodina provincial health secretar Zoran Gojkovic said on March 1.
"Contacts can be prevented only by a complete lockdown," said Gojkovic, adding that shutting down hospitality venues at 2 p.m. "is no good." He also said that the Crisis Headquarters would in the next few days take a decision that would be adequate for all.
