Belgrade Archbishop Stanislav Hocever stressed in an Easter address that this year had globally been marked by the coronavirus pandemic and warned that humanity "is literally kneeling" before it and could not only be guided by exact science but "must advance solely through the force of the true and genuine human spirit and force of the Holy Ghost."
"In the crisis camps of this world there is no room for 'spirit' for that which is spiritual that which is truly important to man as a religious being. And that is dignity and the quality of mutual relations and the caring love of all of us for all of us, for the public and general good," Hocevar said.
He also stressed that "we must humbly admit: this world which is so attractive, visible and tangible has literally caught us in its own trap" because "we mostly live in a way in which only this visible, tangible and material world is real and exists," he said.
