The Women's Power Index, published by the Council on Foreign Relations (CRF), ranked Serbia 26th out of 193 states on the list, the Serbian government's Coordinating Body for Gender Equality reported on April 19.

"The index shows that Serbia is one of 22 states in the world that has a female head of government, while by the number of women in the executive branch of power Serbia has ranked 19th. Likewise, Serbia is ranked 24th by the number of female MPs, also a very good ranking, the president of the Coordinating Body, Zorana Mihajlovic was quoted as saying by her organization.

Mihajlovic underlined that over the past seven years Serbia had included gender equality in its set of top priorities. We have achieved a lot, and I'm glad it's been acknowledged globally. Yet there's plenty more yet to be done - we need to secure that women and men enjoy equal opportunities, in politics, economy and social life alike," Mihajlovic said.
