Bakir Izetbegovic, the Bosnian Party of Democratic Action (PDA) leader, has said that Serbia cannot build its policies on genocide and that Kosovo and Republika Srpska are not comparable.

According to the Sarajevo media, in response to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s statement that he does not see why Kosovo Albanians have the right to independence while Republika Srpska does not, Izetbegovic said that the Serbian president knows very well the answer to that question.

“Serbia has proved it has no right to rule Kosovo. They did that to themselves. Kosovo was an autonomous region, while Republika Srpska is one of the entities within Bosnia and Herzegovina, owing to a constitution that can be changed at any moment, and not to the Dayton Peace Accords. The two are not comparable,” Izetbegovic said in the evening on June 23.

Speaking about Serbia’s attitude to Bosnia, he said that it is a known fact that the Serbian side, with Slobodan Milosevic and Radovan Karadzic at its helm, “ethnically cleansed half of the Bosnian territory.”

“In Bosnia, Serbia made camps, raped and murdered, destroying all traces of the existence of the other two peoples. That same side and regime had committed these same evil deeds in both Kosovo and Bosnia. They have no historical, moral, or even legal arguments they can use to even out the position of the Kosovo Albanians and Bosnian Serbs,” said the PDA leader.

According to him, it is time that Serbia achieves catharsis and faces what it has done. In addition to that, Serbia needs to apologize to both Kosovo and Bosnia, Izetbegovic added.
