Five people died from the consequences of the coronavirus infection in Serbia in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities to 7,151, it was announced on the covid19.rs web-site on Aug. 11.
Since the last update, 921 new cases of infection have been registered among 11,229 people tested. There are 20 patients on ventilators among the 797 who are being treated for the infection in hospitals. There have been 728,167 infection cases since the start of the epidemic in Serbia, out of 4,778,427 people tested.
Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovic stated on Aug. 11 that the work hours of hospitality establishments would be limited and night clubs shut down if the number of new daily infections exceeds 1,000.
“Nobody is contemplating the re-introduction of the curfew. However, by all accounts, we will have to limit the time spent in bars and to shut down the night life,” Tiodorovic said in the interview to the Nova daily, adding that the people should use August to get the vaccine, because that would provide greater safety for the autumn.
