Serbian Charge D’Affairs in India Sinisa Pavic has stated that no Serbian citizen had yet made contact with the embassy in New Delhi, under which jurisdiction falls Afghanistan, asking to be evacuated from that war-torn country.

“We are in contact with a journalist who is planning to travel to or has already arrived in Afghanistan. Aside from that, we had no requests of any kind from our citizens in Afghanistan as of recently,” Pavic said according to the Aug. 15 issue of the Vecernje Novosti daily.

Pavic dismissed the claims circulating on social media according to which the Serbian government will organize an evacuation flight for its citizens in Afghanistan. Pavic recalled that according to the Indian media, Mohammad Suhail Shaheen, the Taliban spokesman, had said that foreign diplomats should not be alarmed as the foreign missions in Afghanistan will be exempt from the activities of Taliban forces.

The Taliban have taken over most of Afghanistan in a little over one week, entering Kabul on August 15. Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has left the country.
