A supplementary budget for 2026 envisages roughly EUR1 billion for aid to Serbian citizens, Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Aug. 21, adding that RSD112.5 billion more than planned has been collected in taxes over the last seven months, which has allowed for additional financing of priority measures.
"Now that we have added all the aid we are actually giving, it's not six hundred million but rather 980.6 million euros. Almost a billion euros," Mali told public service broadcaster RTS.
As of Sept. 14, pensioners will be paid one-off aid in the amount of RSD20,000, 27,500 or 35,000, depending on the amount of their pension.
Aid will also be given to users of cash welfare and child and veteran allowances, while all adult Serbian citizens will also receive RSD6,000 each.
Payments are planned to be made between Sept. 22 and 25, while those who are not entitled to payments from the Share Fund will be able to apply through the Treasury Administration's website.
Independent analysts believe these payments are connected with the snap general election that will probably be held in October.
