World Health Organization chief in Serbia Marijan Ivanusa said on Sept. 17 that Serbia was a leading country in terms of coronavirus infections and pleaded for all citizens to respect measures and get vaccinated.
Ivanusa told Prva TV that the virus's delta strain "is dominant and the most dangerous." "A large number of people who are sensitive to the virus will be infected. Each wave is specific, people are forgetting the measures [that have been introduced]... Serbia is a leading company in terms of the number of infected," he said.
Commenting on Crisis Headquarters member Predrag Kon's stance that Serbia was late introducing Covid passes, Ivanusa said that he had called on people "to get vaccinated back in June. " "From this standpoint we are late, unfortunately. When you epidemiological situation worsens, you are already late applying measures," Ivanusa said.
