A breakthrough was made in an inter-party dialogue between the Serbian government and part of the Serbian opposition mediated by the European Parliament, one of the mediators, Vladimir Bilcik, said on Sept. 18.

The EP rapporteur for Serbia said after a two-day second stage of dialogue to improve the election process in Serbia that the co-facilitators, including the European parliamentarians and the Serbian speaker, Ivica Dacic, had prepared a document containing "a series of measures to help Serbia improve political conditions for the next elections."

"I believe that this is an encouraging step forward, a good sign and an important signal showing that we can work together to improve conditions for the political game in Serbia. We are prepared to continue our engagement in that respect," Bilcik said to reporters.

Bilcik said that the inter-party dialogue "is an important part of Serbia's EU path and European perspective," adding that the document with specific measures was publicly available.
