Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Nov. 3 that there had been many ties to connect Serbia and Montenegro, and that the two countries, in the nature of things, should maintain the closest of relations.
"I hope that this first visit opens a new chapter in the relationship with the Government of Montenegro, and that aside from the restoration of political dialogue, the result of this visit would be stable and richer bilateral ties," Brnabic said at a joint press conference in Belgrade with her visiting Montenegrin counterpart, Zdravko Krivokapic.
Brnabic said that they had discussed not only political and economic issues, but also the development of infrastructure, regional relations and stability and ties between the two countries. The Serbian PM said that economy was a major theme, due to the living standards in either state, adding that it's all the more important given that Montenegro is one of Serbia's leading economic partners in terms of trade, investments and tourism.
The Serbian speaker, Ivica Dacic, said in Belgrade that Serbia didn't want to interfere in Montenegro's internal affairs, and that Serbia was only concerned with good relations and the protection of Serb rights in Montenegro. During a meeting with the Montenegrin prime minister, Dacic underlined that his visit to Serbia was important for strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in all areas.
