The EU senior representative for foreign policy and security, Josep Borrel, in Brussels on Dec. 7 told Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti that satisfying the needs of the Serb community was an important element of the overall process of normalization between Belgrade and Pristina.
Borrel stressed that the agreement on the Community of Serb Municipalities needed to be implemented because it would be part of an agreement on settling relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
According to him, meeting the needs of the Serb community in Kosovo is an important element of the overall process of normalizing relations between Belgrade and Pristina. "This part of the agreement must be carried out and it will, in any case, be part of a future agreement on normalizing relations" between Kosovo and Serbia, he added.
The European enlargement commissioner, Oliver Varhelyi, stressed after a meeting of the EU-Kosovo Council for Stabilization and Association that an EU economic investment package would make it possible for the entire region to become connected through infrastructure and develop, and he stressed the importance of establishing a joint regional market, of which Kosovo would be a part, he concluded.
