A total of 65% of convicts serving time in prisons in Serbia have been vaccinated against COVID-19, the Ministry of Justice reported on Feb. 1.

In a statement from the Ministry's department for prison terms, the Ministry said that over 80% of convicts in many jails had been vaccinated. Convicts in Sremska Mitrovica, Nis, Zabela and the women's prison in Pozarevac began sowing 6,000 protective masks daily at the start of the epidemic  for employees in all prisons.

"Convicts immediately showed a concern for their health by deciding to get vaccinated against COVID so that at this time 65% of all convicts in the entire system are vaccinated, while the vaccination rate is over 80% in many prisons," the statement said.
