Vladeta Jankovic, the mayoral candidate of the United for Belgrade's Victory ticket, believes that his supporters are "quite close" in numbers to those of the Serbian Progressive Party but that undecided voters could pose a serious threat to the opposition victory in the upcoming election for the capital's local government, the United Serbia coalition has announced.

"Those 20 percent of voters are the key to winning the elections. They, too, are dissatisfied [so] it is essential to convey to them that not [all politicians] are the same -- and that we are faced with an opportunity the likes of which we haven't seen in a long time," Jankovic said late on March 6, adding that funds from the city budget must be redirected where they are needed most and that he would "put a stop to the current rampant corruption."

Vladimir Gajic, the vice president of the People's Party, voiced the opinion that the people are not yet ready "to take charge of their lives, regardless of party [affiliation], ideology or beliefs." "The opposition needs to solve this problem and use its campaign to encourage people to be proactive regarding their own lives," Gajic concluded.

The United Serbia coalition is centered around the Freedom and Justice Party, the People's Party, the Democratic Party and the Movement for Free Citizens.
