Dobrica Veselinovic, a candidate of the We Must coalition for Belgrade mayor, on March 22 said that Serbia’s national interest, particularly in the context of the crisis in Ukraine, was to transit to renewable energy sources.
“Serbia is an energy dependent country because this issue has been monopolized for decades. We have to shift to renewable energy sources – solar, wind power and geothermal energy which are sufficient in Serbia,” Veselinovic told TV Nova S.
He said that all the agreements signed by the incumbent Belgrade authorities should be made public and revised.
According to Veselinovic, public utility company Zelenilo-Beograd has signed a contract with a private company for “grass cutting, worth RSD6 million.” “We have a public utility responsible for the maintenance and management of urban green areas, which hires a private company to do its job, while the number of its administrative staff has been growing every year,” Veselinovic stressed.
