The Military Trade Union of Serbia welcomed new additions to the Serbian military equipment on April 11, warning though at a chronic shortage of staff, leaving even the weapons Serbia already owned unmanned and poorly maintained.
“While the defense minister’s PR service presents fake video footage of military training, staged completely as there’s no one to take part, the very same minister has never used his position to improve the status of soldiers whose employer he is, but rather to improve his poor political ratings, shaken seriously by criminal affairs and other scandals,” the trade union has cautioned.
The organization hopes that the next Serbian cabinet might understand how serious the crisis in the defense sector is, and how deeply the country’s defense capabilities have been affected by “catastrophic, amateurish and criminal management.”
