Zdravko Ponos, an oppositional candidate in the recent presidential elections, has stated that he is working on forming a group with like-minded individuals. The exact format – be it a political movement, party or something else – will depend on his associates, he said, adding that it could likely come into being by the summer.
“Whatever I do, it has to be a team effort. I have no intention of doing the typical Serbian leader-centered thing, and parties are usually like that,” Ponos told NewsMax Adria late on April 17.
Ponos said that he would like a team capable of leading a party if need be, although that is more difficult and complex than running a movement. “For now, I’m in talks with people with whom I’d like to work. Those talks are going well, [but] will take time,” he said.
According to him, his future group’s orientation will also depend on whether its membership is left-wing or right-wing. “Generally speaking, I’d prefer the political center,” Ponos stated.
