Social Democratic Party leader Boris Tadic has said that in the recent elections the opposition missed nearly everything it could, noting that such elections were necessary to “make everything clearer in the opposition following a foggy decade.”
“If new elections (local elections in Belgrade) are scheduled, it would be to enable (Aleksandar) Vucic to improve the election result of his party and not because of any talks with anyone from the opposition ranks,” Tadic told the April 26 issue of Belgrade daily Danas.
Commenting on a meeting of President Aleksandar Vucic and Freedom and Justice Party leader Dragan Djilas, Tadic said that “the talks serve only as a curtain and to enable Vucic to, if he assesses that new elections would be in his interest, present them as a concession to the opposition and an of his good will.”
“So, it is senseless to condition casting ballots in potential elections with the position on the Vucic-Djilas talks. It is our job to get prepared for them better than ever before,” Tadic stressed.
