A founding assembly scheduled for June 11 will see part of the oppositional, green-left We Must coalition transformed into a political party. The goal is to create a strong green-left political organization on the foundations of the Action Open Platform.
The Action Open Civic Platform, the Ecological Uprising, the Parliament of Free Serbia and the Together for Serbia Party have begun the official process of founding a still-unnamed political organization, the Nova daily reported on May 30.
According to the paper, the first step in this process will be the signing of a unification declaration. Representatives of the future party will then attend the European Green Party congress in Riga on June 5, after which the new party’s founding assembly will be held on June 11.
The We Must green-left coalition – which participated in parliamentary, presidential and local Belgrade elections of April 2022 – was formed by Dobrica Veselinovic’s Don’t Let Belgrade D(r)own movement, Aleksandar ‘Cuta’ Jovanovic’s Ecological Uprising movement and Nebojsa Zelenovic’s Action Open Civic Platform.
