The presidential candidate of the United for the Victory of Serbia coalition in the April elections in Serbia, Zdravko Ponos, has said that the political organization he is founding will, for a start, be a movement that will advocate Serbia's accession to the European Union.

In an appearance on Nova S TV on June 17, Ponos explained that he was founding a movement and not a party because that was procedurally simpler and cheaper, but also because it was easier for people to decide to join a movement.

He denied allegations that Savo Manojlovic of the Get Going for Change initiative was a part of the movement, but said that he regularly consulted with Serbian Orthodox Church Bishop Grigorije and former basketball player Dejan Bodiroga "about where Serbia should go and where it should be in 20 years."

According to the media, Ponos' future political organization will be centrist and will advocate Serbia's membership in the EU.

As an opposition coalition candidate, Zdravko Ponos won 18.39 percent of votes in the April 3 presidential election.
