During the 170th General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in Paris, Serbian Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Minister Tatjana Matic said that Belgrade was the favorite to host Specialized Expo 2027/28, the Serbian Ministry said in a release on June 21.
Serbia presented its Expo 2027 candidature dossier in Paris on June 20, during the 170th BIE General Assembly.
During the presentation, aside from Matic, the General Assembly was also addressed by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Finance Minister Sinisa Mali, Serbian Chamber of Commerce President Marko Cadez, Belgrade Chief Urban Planner Marko Stojcic, and project manager Dusan Borovcanin.
On June 7, Serbia submitted its candidature dossier for hosting specialized exposition themed “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All,” scheduled to take place from May 15 to August 15, 2027.
During the 170th BIE General Assembly, candidature projects were also presented by another four candidates – Malaga (Spain), Bloomington (Minnesota, USA), Phuket (Thailand), and San Carlos de Bariloche (Argentina).
The host country of Specialized Expo 2027/28 will be elected by 170 BIE Member States in June 2023, by secret ballot and on the principle of one country, one vote.
