The coronavirus situation in Serbia and the number of new cases were still far from the need to impose health and protective measures, the head of the Karaburma Military Medical Center in Belgrade, Ivo Udovicic, said on July 4.

He told state public broadcaster RTS that due to new Omicron variants, the number of new cases had increased across the globe and also in Serbia. The doctor stressed that the virus “is not gone” and that “a summer wave” was expected.

Udovicic warned that vulnerable groups should be particularly careful now and that people at high risk from coronavirus should be vaccinated.
