Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic met on July 13 with the Ukrainian ambassador to Serbia, Volodomir Tokac, to discuss Serbia’s assistance to Ukrainian refugees, support to the Ukrainian people, overall bilateral relations and stronger ties in the energy sector.

“Serbia and Ukraine have developed a traditionally good and friendly relationship based on mutual respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty. We hope that the war will be over as soon as possible, not only for the sake of the Ukrainian people, but all of us in Europe as well,” Mihajlovic said. The Serbian minister underlined that Serbia had welcomed Ukrainian refugees, providing them with assistance and support, granting them the right to stay and work in Serbia, because it wanted them to feel at home.

“Thank you for the opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation in a particularly difficult situation, caused by Russia’s aggression that has thwarted our plans and intentions, especially when it comes to developing economic ties with other states. I am also grateful for the assistance to the Ukrainians in the Vranje reception center, but also elsewhere in Serbia, where they have found refuge from the war. I know that many are trying to continue their schooling and businesses in Serbia,” the ambassador said.
